The Pierre Bleue Antique Limestone Tile is a stone shaped by centuries of history. Quarried in Belgium for over 2,000 years, this remarkable limestone tile has paved medieval guild halls, framed Gothic cathedrals, and lined the elegant streets of European cities that still bear its mark today.

Its gray-blue surface, flecked with ancient fossils, carries the quiet memory of the sea from which it was formed. Over time, it develops a natural patina that only deepens its sense of authenticity and old-world charm. Whether used as a black tile for rustic interiors, a dramatic statement in luxury bathrooms, or as cladding in modern industrial kitchens, Pierre Bleue adapts gracefully to its setting.

This is not just a building material but a living stone that ages beautifully — a timeless canvas for architecture and design. The Pierre Bleue Antique Limestone Tile brings strength, elegance, and a story of history into every space it touches.

Sample orders ship in 2 business days unless otherwise specified on the website.

Full size tile orders ship 2–3 weeks, though this may vary depending on order size. If the order quantity exceeds the available inventory lead time might be roughly 12-16 weeks. We encourage you to reach out early in your planning process and our team will gladly provide a custom timeline and assist with every detail to bring your project to life. Please contact us as soon as you can so we can provide a timeline for your project. We look forward to being part of the beauty of your project!

  1. How much extra do I need to order?
We recommend ordering 10–15% extra, depending on the pattern. This industry standard covers potential waste during installation and ensures your design looks perfectly balanced and centered once installed.

  2. Do I need to grout?
Yes, grouting is essential. We recommend using unsanded grout, especially for natural stone installations, to achieve a smooth finish without scratching the surface.

  3. Do I need to seal this product?
Yes. We strongly recommend sealing before installation and again after grouting for the best protection against moisture and stains. Please choose a type of sealant that is applicable to natural stone tiles such as marble, limestone, travertine.

  4. How often do I need to seal it?

It depends on where the tiles are installed:

Floors: once or twice a year

Walls: every other year is typically sufficient

Regular sealing helps preserve the natural beauty and longevity of your natural stone tiles.

  5. Is this product durable?
    Yes, absolutely.

  6. How much variation I should be expecting?
Because our mosaics are made from authentic natural stone; including marble, travertine, and limestone so moderate variation in color, veining, and texture is normal and part of their timeless charm. Each piece is truly one-of-a-kind.

  7. Is this product suitable for around a pool or outdoor area?
We don’t recommend using it around pools as cleaning products and pool chemicals may etch the surface or cause discoloration over time. That said, if your project is in a mild climate, the tile can be suitable for outdoor areas like patios, porches, or walkways—just not in direct contact with pool water.

  8. What is the lead time?

Our typical processing times are 2-3 weeks when the order quantity doesn't exceed the available inventory. In case the order quantity is larger, lead time is usually somewhere between 12–16 weeks. We encourage you to reach out early in your planning process. Our team will gladly provide a custom timeline and assist with every detail to bring your project to life.

How To Install

When installing antique natural stone tiles, it’s essential to use a high-quality waterproof sealant and unsanded grout suitable for the relevant natural stone surfaces whether it's marble, limestone, or travertine. If you’d like to enrich the natural tones of your stone, consider using a color-enhancing sealant instead of a standard one.

We recommend applying the sealant both before and after grouting, ensuring generous coverage for maximum protection and durability.

Because natural stone tiles such as marble is a naturally porous stone, sealing it properly is crucial to prevent moisture absorption and staining. The sealant should deeply penetrate the surface to provide long-term protection while preserving the antique finish.

Please note that minor chips, veining, and moderate tonal variations are authentic characteristics of our antique natural stone tiles. These natural details, when combined with grout, create the timeless, weathered charm that makes antique natural stone tiles so unique and beautiful.

Natural stone tiles add timeless elegance to any space, but maintaining their beauty requires proper care. With their natural composition, these tiles demand specific upkeep techniques to ensure longevity and aesthetics same as any natural stone. This maintenance guide provides easy-to-follow steps for cleaning, sealing, and preserving your limestone tiles.

Daily Care for Natural Stone Tiles

  1. Sweep or Vacuum
Use a soft broom or vacuum with a brush attachment to remove dirt and debris that can scratch the tile surface. Do this daily or as needed.

  2. Damp Mop
Clean with a damp (not wet) mop and pH-neutral cleaner designed for limestone. Avoid abrasive or acidic cleaners like vinegar, lemon juice, or bleach, as these can damage the limestone's surface.

  3. Wipe Spills Immediately
Limestone is porous and can absorb liquids, leading to stains. Clean spills promptly with a soft cloth or paper towel to prevent absorption.

  4. Inspect for Stains
Check for any discolorations or stains. Treat stains with a stain remover specifically designed for limestone.

Sealing Natural Stone Tiles

Sealing is critical to protect your natural stone tiles from stains and moisture damage. The frequency depends on the sealant type and foot traffic.

  • Choose the Right Sealant
Use a penetrating sealer designed for limestone. Avoid topical sealers, as they can alter the tile's natural look.

  • Apply the Sealant
    • Clean the tiles thoroughly and let them dry completely.
    • Apply the sealer evenly with a soft cloth, sponge, or applicator brush.
    • Let the sealant soak in for the recommended time (check the product label).
    • Wipe off excess with a clean, dry cloth to avoid streaks.

  • Reapply as Needed
Reseal every 6-12 months depending on the traffic or when water no longer beads on the surface.

Stain Removal Tips

  1. Oil Stains: Use an oil stain remover formulated for limestone. Apply it to the stain, let it dry, and wipe it away.

  2. Organic Stains: Use a diluted hydrogen peroxide solution, but test in an inconspicuous area first.

  3. Rust Stains: Apply a rust remover formulated for limestone. Avoid generic rust removers, as they may damage the tile.

Preventative Measures

  1. Furniture Pads
Add felt pads under furniture legs to prevent scratches.

  2. Avoid Harsh Chemicals
Steer clear of acidic or alkaline cleaners and abrasive scrubbing tools.

  3. Regular Maintenance
Schedule professional resealing every 6-12 months depending on the traffic or when water no longer beads on the surface.

Do's and Don'ts

Do:

  • Use soft cloths, mops, and pH-neutral cleaners.
  • Seal your tiles regularly.
  • Blot spills instead of wiping to prevent spreading.

Don't:

  • Use abrasive scrubbers or steel wool.
  • Allow standing water or moisture to accumulate.
  • Apply wax or oil-based polishes.

By following these maintenance steps, you can keep your natural stone tiles in pristine condition, preserving their natural beauty and durability for years to come. Regular care and attention will not only enhance the appearance of your tiles but also protect your investment.
